According to a report published by Cisco Bulgaria, broadband Internet penetration in the country stood at 6% at the end of last year. The figure was comparable to that in Poland but higher than those in several other countries in Central and Eastern Europe including Russia, Romania and Ukraine. All told, 11.7% of homes in Bulgaria had broadband Internet access at the end of 2006. Earlier this month Cisco announced that the Bulgarian incumbent telco BTC was expanding its Cisco IP Next Generation Network to eventually offer triple play services.
