CACC 2007, PRAGUE – Speaking at the Czech Association of Competitive Communications (CACC) conference in Prague, Martin Kubacki, MD, Astra CEE, said it was looking increasingly likely that the Polish public broadcaster would launch a ‘Freesat-style’ DTH platform in Poland later this year. He added that from Astra’s perspective there was no conflict between DTT and satellite and that the platform would have a good chance of success. In a related development, TVP has signed an agreement confirming the launch of TVP Bialorus, a channel aimed at neighbouring Belarus. Start up costs of the service, which is due to make its debut on October 15 and be distributed for 15 hours daily by two satellites, have been put at PLN16 million (€4.24 million).
