In a statement delivered this morning before the opening of the exchanges, Neuf Cegetel confirmed it is in exclusive talks with Deutsche Telekom to buy its French subsidiary Club Internet. Yesterday the company denied such a report by the French daily Les Echos.
By acquiring the 600,000 Club Internet customers from DT Neuf would jump into second place with 2.67 million homes, but still lagging far behind market leader Orange (France Telecom) with 4.2 million ISP customers.
All three ISPs each offer their own managed IPTV service, again with Orange TV being the largest with over 500,000 IPTV homes; Free has around 390,000 and the Club Internet IPTV service launched last year.
