Dutch cable operator CAIW has launched its digital package on the Rekam network in central Holland. It will sit alongside Rekam’s own digital product using the same digital cable tuner.
The Rekam network serves some 44,000 households in and around the city of Gouda. The operator is run by a not-for-profit organisation and only distributes national and international public channels, the Dutch commercial channels and those international broadcasters that do not require payment from the operator. This has excluded many popular channels such as Eurosport and Discovery.
The operator has now found a way to offer these channels to their subscribers by having CAIW operating the commercial digital offer; each household can claim one free cable tuner, which gives access to a small number of digital channels in the Rekam package. For an additional €13.95 monthly fee subscribers receive the 50 channel basic tier from CAIW, which can be extended with several extended and premium tiers.
