Data produced by TNS Emor shows that the Estonian market essentially remains a three-horse race between the public broadcaster ETV and two national commercial stations Kanal 2 and TV3. In March 2007 Kanal 2 claimed an audience share of 21.0%, with ETV (18.9%) and TV3 (18.4%) close behind. PBK, a Russian channel licensed in Latvia, was the next popular service (11.4%), followed by 3+ and the Russian international channel RTR Planeta (4.0%). Although the most popular thematic channel MTV Estonia only had an audience share of only 0.3%, the combined share of other international channels was an impressive 17.0%. Kanal 2 is backed by Norway’s Schibsted, while both TV3 and 3+ are owned by Sweden’s MTG.
