On Demand Deutschland is to manage Unity Media’s pay-per-view service. The agreement is the first fruits of the recently announced joint venture between the UK’s On Demand Group (ODG) and Tele München Gruppe (TMG). The company will manage the Kino auf Abruf service on Unity Media’s ish and iesy networks in North Rhine Westphalia and Hesse. The two networks serve a total of 5.1 million basic cable subscribers, though the immediate target will be the 360,700 digital TV subscribers.
The PPV platform will give subscribers access to titles including The Break-Up, Cars, Mission Impossible 3, Miami Vice, You, Me and Dupree and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, priced at €3 a piece. The new agreement ends the relationship of the cable operator with Chellomedia’s Arrivo on demand service, who used to be the PPV provider.
