The Hungarian broadcasting and transmission company Antenna Hungaria has begun a mobile TV trial with T-Mobile, the mobile arm of the incumbent telco Magyar Telekom. Expected to last several months, it is distributing the public channels M1, M2, Duna and Duna2 Autonomia. Both Antenna Hungaria and T-Mobile have been actively involved in introducing mobile TV into Hungary for some time, with the former participating in the European WING TV project from 2005 onwards and latter starting a video streaming service three years earlier. Deutsche Telekom-backed T-Mobile is Hungary’s leading mobile company and faces competition from Pannon and Vodafone.
