Tony Maddox has been named as the new head of CNN International, replacing Chris Cramer, and reporting to Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide.
In his new role as executive vice president and managing director CNN International, Maddox will be responsible for five English language services; CNN en Español; CNNj; CNN.com International; CNNArabic.com; the joint ventures CNN-IBN, CNN+ and CNN Turk. His responsibilities also include international newsgathering.
Maddox was previously senior vice president of news operations for CNN International. He joined CNN in 1998 as managing editor for CNN’s news coverage in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to joining CNN, Maddox spent 13 years with the BBC as a reporter, producer, editor and news executive based in Belfast, Plymouth and Leeds.
