ABI Research has ranked Amino Communications as the world leader in the IPTV set-top box market for the second consecutive year. The Cambridge-based company has expanded its customer base to 1,500 organisations and its set-top boxes have now been trialled in more than 50 countries.
“The IPTV STB market has begun an aggressive growth period, and the ability to provide cost-effective, feature-rich solutions will be key to maintaining market share,” said Michael Arden, principal analyst, broadband and multimedia research at ABI Research. “To remain competitive in the market, companies must shape their STB product lines to meet the growing demands of operators for multiple features supported on a variety of compression standards.”
In recent months Amino has introduced four next generation set-top box products that support advanced video codecs, as well as enabling the first IPTV connected home deployments in the United States and Europe and the first IPTV MPEG-4 service in the US.
