Russian business channel RBC-TV has signed a five-year lease for capacity on Eutelsat Hotbird 6 (13 degrees East). RBC-TV will broadcast in-the-clear across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Three years ago, RBC-TV launched on Eutelsat’s W4 satellite (36 degrees East), and the channel has already built an estimated audience of 53 million viewers. The channel also has capacity on Intelsat 904 (60 degrees East) and ABS 1 (75 degrees East)
By also using the Hotbird neighbourhood, RBC-TV is hoping to reach an international audience of Russian-speaking business people, including foreign citizens who speak Russian and do business with the country.
The English language Russia Today is also establishing itself as a provider of an international perspective on Russia with distribution on both the Hotbird and Astra platforms.
