Ascent opens European Transmission Centre

March 22, 2007 12.58 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Ascent Media has unveiled its new European Transmission Centre located at its offices in Stephen Street, Central London. The facility has been designed to offer playout to up to 32 channels. The centre is already in use with Sony Pictures Television International using the facility for the playout of its AXN branded channels into Central Europe.

“We undertook the design and build of these new playout facilities to continue to provide our playout clients with an exemplary service that only a state-of-the-art facility can deliver,” said Roger Henderson, Managing Director of Ascent Media’s content distribution business in Europe.

The launch of the ETC is the first phase of a tiered investment by Ascent Media that will see the development of ingest and output facilities for broadcasters seeking a turnkey broadcast solution.

Owned by the Discovery Holding Company, Ascent has content distribution and systems consulting, engineering, integration and support facilities in Los Angeles, New York, Stamford, Minneapolis, and Singapore. (JC)
