According to local reports, the new ownership structure of the Amedia group of companies in Russia now has the Russian/US financier Leonard Blavatnik as a 63% shareholder and chairman Alexander Akopov holding the remaining 37%. Amedia’s interests include Russia’s leading independent production company and film studios Media City. Separately, the Russian Ministry of IT and Communications has announced that investment in the country’s communications sector rose by 7.1% to R150 billion (€4.33 billion) in 2006.
