Slovenia’s RTV Slovenija (RTV Slo) managed to increase advertising and commercial revenues, as well as cut costs, in 2006. Its general manager Anton Guzej said this made for a successful year, adding that the satisfaction was even greater due to higher ratings.” Guzej also said that receiver licence fees accounted for only 66.4% of revenues, which made other sources of income crucial if RTV Slo is to operate in the black. Revenues from commercial activities rose to 31.7% of all the total and are projected to grow further, while advertising revenues amounted to €21.6 million. Guzej also said the broadcaster intends to double the amount of investment to €20 million and start construction of a new news centre. RTV Slo director Joze Mozina meanwhile announced that entertainment and cultural programmes saw an increase in viewers, though the total in 2006 was 1% down on the previous year. However, audience figures are now rising again.
