BSkyB is to receive the Pioneer Prize at this year’s International Interactive Emmys. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today announced 11 nominees across three categories that will be presented at MIPTV in Cannes, France on April 18. BSkyB’s award, though not an Emmy itself, will be presented to Sophie Turner-Laing, managing director, Entertainment, BSkyB, in recognition of the broadcasters innovative contribution to interactive television.
Nominations include BBC Children’s/Preloaded for Level Up in the Interactive Programme category. The BBC has also been nominated in the Interactive Services Category for BBCi. It will compete alongside the Sport1 iTV service, produced by Chellomedia Interactive Services, and Connect-TV from Israel’s HOT cable platform.
Video Networks’ Movies Now and Two Way TV’s Win Win TV are up against each other in the Interactive Channel category.
