ANGA Cable has announced plans to extend its remit to cover IPTV services. From 2008 the event will be known as ‘ANGA Cable – Trade Fair for Cable, Broadband and Satellite’. “This change in name reflects the increasing relevance of broadband services such as High Speed Internet, IP-Telephony and IP-based Video Offerings (IPTV). Due to cable networks’ upgrading with optical fibre the terms cable and broadband are inseparable from each other today,” said ANGA president Thomas Braun.
This year’s event takes place in Cologne between May 22 and 24. It will be opened by Andreas Krautscheidt, State Secretary for Media, State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Fritz Schramma, Lord Mayor of the City of Cologne. Further contributions will come from Kabel Deutschland’s Christof Wahl, Orion Cable’s Paul Stodden and SES Astra’s Ferdinand Kayser.
Technology panels, under the theme of DVB meets OP will cover topics including triple- and quadplay next generation networks, DOCSIS 3.0, DVB-S2, hybrid DVB-IP set-top boxes and video-on-demand.
