NDS has secured its first deployment of the VideoGuard content protection system in Germany. Kabel BW will deploy the system later this year in the southwestern state of Baden Würtemberg. The migration to the NDS system is expected to be complete by the end of the third quarter. Later, Kabel BW will introduce a series of interactive applications based on the NDS MediaHighway middleware, a plan that includes video on demand and digital video recorder technology.
The contract is another success for NDS France, which last November began the deployment of the MediaHighway middleware into German pay-TV platform Premiere. (JC)
