Sky is to launch the TV-delivered version of its Sky Anytime movies on demand service next month. The broadcaster also plans to rebrand its portfolio of movie channels based on individual genres.
Sky Anytime on TV will offer subscribers a selection of blockbuster and recurrent movies through a dedicated section within the Sky Guide EPG. The titles will be pushed directly to previously unused capacity on the hard drives of Sky+ boxes and Sky HD boxes. The Sky Anytime on PC service currently offers subscribers access to a library of 300 titles.
The latest rebrand of the Sky Movies portfolio – it has sometimes felt like an annual event – will take place on April 4 and will see genre specific channels covering Comedy, Drama, Family, Action/Thriller, Indie, Classic, Horror/Sci-fi and Modern Greats. The mixed format movie channels will survive through dedicated HD channels. (JC)
