Hungary’s National Telecommunications Office (NHH) has classified the transmission company Antenna Hungária a “significant market power”. As a result, it will be required to offer cost-based prices for its wholesale services and end any preferences not provided to all of its customers. Antenna Hungária, which is majority (75% plus one voting share) owned by Swisscom Broadcast, currently operates a MMDS service (Antenna Digital) that serves Budapest and environs and is believed to have around 50,000 subscribers. It also operates a limited DTT service covering the capital and town of Kabhegy by Lake Balaton. The NHH’s move is likely to result in a reduction of prices Antenna Hungária charges its clients, who include Hungary’s leading broadcasters.(CD)
