NDS Group has reached 50.2 million cumulative set-top boxes that have been activated with the NDS middleware as the company recorded an 11% increase in six monthly revenues.
The past quarter saw the significant acquisition of Jungo, an Israeli company involved in the development of software for residential gateways, more recently NDS signed an agreement with Turkey’s Dogan TV ahead of the launch of its interactive TV service D-SMART. NDS is currently holding onto $483.4 million (€373.57m) in cash and with no plans to pay any dividends to shareholders, further investment can be expected.
Total revenues for the three months to December 31, 2006 were $165.1 million, an increase of 8% over the equivalent period in 2005, while six monthly revenues climbed to $329.2 million. The News Corp technology company benefited from a 12% rise in conditional access revenues, in both the three-month and six-month periods, though licence fee and royalty revenues fell because of the deployment of MediaHighway software to DirecTV the previous year.
