Sony and HoloVis show Amsterdam High-rez future in 3D

January 29, 2007 21.11 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

Projector manufacturer Sony and rear projection visualisation systems specialist HoloVis International are showing an immersive 3D visualisation system, the ApolloWall-Pro, at Integrated Systems Europe 2007, in Amsterdam this week.

Visitors to the Rai exhibition center will be able to enter the display area, wearing special glasses, to be surrounded by 3D images. The ApolloWall-Pro uses Sony’s SRX-S105 and SRX-S110 LCoS projectors, which feature a 4K or Quad-HD resolution (3840 by 2160 pixels). The companies claim this allows for photo-realistic resolution.

The partnership enables HoloVis and Sony to offer turn-key display systems, based on the Sony high-resolution projectors. Sony and HoloVis said they are already working closely with several major car manufacturers to implement this 2D and 3D visualisation system into their design and review process.

The show wil also feature a large number of home theater products, HDTV products in particular. The European launch of JVC’s new DLA-HD1 1080P LCoS hometheater projector is also scheduled. Retailing at 6500.00 Euro, it is believed to be the first home theater projector to rival the black level and contrast ratio of CRT projectors. Other manufacturers to show-off their HD home theater projectors include Mitsubishi, Panasonic and, again, Sony.

Halls 1-4 of the Rai exhibition center will also be light up by a plethora of projectors and displays for professional applications, digital signage systems, outdoor advertising, Home and D-Cinema. From manufacturers such as Barco, Christie Digital, Clarity Visual, JVC, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Projection Design and Sony.

ISE 2007, Januari 30 – February 1 2007, Amsterdam.
