The Slovak commercial station Joj has been bought by J&T Media Enterprises from Grabofal Group for an undisclosed fee. At the same time, Grabofal Group has gained control of TA3 from J&T Finance Group. In the former case, J&T Media Enterprises has become the owner of Joj by buying both its licence holder (Mac TV) and main programme production company (Mag Media). Joj was launched in 2002 with the help of Vladimir Zelezny, the controversial former founder and director of the Czech Republic’s TV Nova. TA3, on the other hand, is one of the longest established news channels in Central and Eastern Europe, having made its debut in September 2001. Both compete in market also served by the public broadcaster STV and CME-owned commercial station Markiza TV. The two deals still have to gain approval from the Slovak anti-monopoly authorities.
