The Czech public broadcaster CT has announced that its revenues are likely to reach CZK6.46 billion (€233.3 million) in 2007. With advertising on the station being gradually phased out, the income from commercials will be down to some CZK724 million from last year’s CZK1.050 billion. Revenues from receiver licence fees will meanwhile grow, boosted by the amount paid by each household per month being increased from CZK100 to CZK120. CT has allocated CZK2.1 billion this year for in-house productions, or 16.6% more than in 2006. Separately, local reports indicate that Penta, a private equity company active in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, has been awarded a licence to operate what will be the Czech Republic’s fourth mobile network. Known as MobilKom, it will employ the CDMA as opposed to GSM standard and make its debut later this year. (CD)
