Gates announces marriage between Xbox 360 and IPTV

January 8, 2007 11.03 Europe/London By Robert Briel

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas Bill Gates announced the marriage between the Xbox 360 games console and Microsoft’s IPTV Edition software platform. The announcement was made during Gates’ keynote speech on Sunday, January 7th, but did not contain any surprises because of an earlier leak of the story to US publication Mercury News. As expected IPTV on Xbox 360 will offer all the possibilities of a full-featured digital pay TV service in combination with Xbox Live. Gates confirmed the console has sold more than 10.4 million consoles in 37 countries since launch. More details and CES coverage in New Television Insider.
