Cablecom has announced details of the channels that will move to digital only broadcasts in German-speaking Switzerland during 2007. The migration process will be carried out in two phases in April and June 2007 and follows last November’s agreement with the price regulator. The capacity will be used for a new standard digital service, beginning in April, and priced at a monthly SFr6 (€3.73). There are also plans to introduce high definition broadcasts in the second half of 2007. The first phase on April 3, 2007 will see Italian networks, Canale5 and Rai Uno; and the German news network n-tv lose their analogue status. The second wave will take place in June, when the French networks France 2 and TF1; and German regional broadcaster WDR will move to digital. Separate arrangements are being made for the Cantons of Basel and Biel and these will be announced later. (JC)
