Italian telco Tiscali has launched its first UK IPTV service. Tiscali TV has been made available to a group of selected customers on 32 telephone exchanges in London. The customers concerned have already been contacted by the company ahead of a full UK launch later in 2 The company is aiming to be delivering the IPTV service to 35% of its 1.4 million high speed Internet customers.
Tiscali TV includes over 80 linear TV and video-on-demand channels that include E4, More 4, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV, FX, Paramount Comedy and Cartoon Network. Tiscali TV will be leaning on Video Networks’ HomeChoice service that was acquired by the Italian telco last year. The 1,000-title movie library will be supplemented by HomeChoice’s BAFTA award-winning music video service with 1,000 clips.
Talks are underway with Setanta, which has acquired two of the six Premier League packages from the start of the next football season, HomeChoice customers already have access to Sky Sports through the Sky by Wire package.
