Norges televisjon (NTV) has announced plans to license a second pay-TV operator in the Norwegian DTT system. A half multiplex will be made available from 2010, following the completion of analogue switch off (ASO). NTV has issued an expression of interest for the capacity that will broadcast using the advanced MPEG-4 system that has been used in the country’s DTT rollout.
The DTT network is now available in 13 of the country’s regions. A free-to-air service from public broadcaster NRK sits alongside the pay-TV operations of NTV’s sister company Riks TV. Both will extend their capacity once ASO has been completed.
The deadline for interest is March 14, 2008.
