France 24 is looking at introducing both a German and a Mandarin stream by 2010. The international news channel already has plans for a Spanish language version. Speaking in Berlin, president Alain de Pouzilhac said France 24 already had nine million German homes tuned to the established French and English versions of the channel.
At 430,000 German visitors, de Pouzilhac said the website was receiving traffic greater than either the BBC or CNN.
