Virgin Media customers may still be pining for the return of Sky shows such as 24 and The Simpsons, but until now Tiscali TV viewers have never had the pleasure. The IPTV operator confirmed today that it will add the full set of Sky basic channels – including Sky One, Sky Two, Sky Three, Sky Arts, Sky Travel, Sky News and Sky Sports News – to be made available by the summer. Premium channels Sky Sports and Sky Movies have been are already available as part of Sky by Wire.
Mike Darcey, Sky’s chief operating officer, pointed to the 70% increase in investment that has been put into the channels over the last five years. “Sky is always looking for new ways to make quality programming available to a wide range of customers, both through our own platform and by working with others.” He said IPTV represented an exciting new revenue opportunity.
