The negotiations between the German cable operators and pubcasters ARD and ZDF are moving forward at a snail’s pace, according to the parties involved.
German cable operator KabelBW, part of Liberty Global, is adding four new HD channels, glitz*HD, Romance TV HD, RTL Living HD and Passion HD, bringing the total to 46 HD on the network.
Ginx TV has signed a distribution agreement with Glashart Media for distribution of its 24/7 video gaming TV channel to IPTV and cable homes in The Netherlands. The channel will be available to subscribers to Glashart’s Extended Basic offer.

ARD, ZDF and Arte have cancelled their carriage contracts with the three major German cable operators, Kabel Deutschland, Kabel BW and Unitymedia.

Liberty Global’s German cablenets Unitymedia and Kabel BW have closed a new distribution agreement with Sky Deutschland that brings up to 18 HD channels to its customers in North-Rhine Westphalia, Hessen and Baden-Württemberg.

Liberty Global (LGI) is planning a major marketing campaign in the German market to drive sales for Unitymedia and Kabel BW.

The German monopoly commission (Bundeskartellamt) has cleared the acquisition of Kabel Baden-Württemberg by Liberty Global subject to conditions and obligations. Following receipt of regulatory approval, Liberty has consummated the purchase of Germany’s third largest cable operator.
