
The Czech Telecom Office (CTU) has imposed fines of CZK20 million (€772,000) each on the M7 Group and UPC DTH, operators of the DTH platforms Skylink/CS Link and freeSAT respectively.

PRAGUE BUSINESS BREAKFAST – Skylink and CS Link currently have a combined total of around 2.1 million active smart cards in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, according to Jaromir Glisnik, president M77.

The operator of the DTH platforms Skylink and CS Link has been fined a total of CZK15 million (€585,870) by the Czech Telecom Office (CTU).

The Czech and Slovak DTH platforms Skylink and CS Link will come under the direct control of M7 Group on January 1.

Hackers have hit the Czech and Slovak DTH platforms Skylink and CS Link, both of which are owned by the Luxembourg-based M77 Group.

There are at present no plans to close the Czech/Slovak DTH platform CS Link, according to Jaromir Glisnik, the chairman of its Luxembourg-based owner M77 Group.

The Czech and Slovak DTH platform CS Link has replaced its existing paid programme offer with that of Skylink’s.

The DTH platforms Skylink and CS Link are running almost neck-and-neck with Digi TV in terms of paying customers in the Czech Republic.

The Luxembourg-based DTH platform operator M77 Group faces the prospect of being fined up to CZK20 million (€791,000) for violating the Electronic Communications Act in the Czech Republic.
