A true inspiration to so many people. A wonderful and fitting service for him yesterday. As someone said - a wonderful sad happy day.

It was always a pleasure to work with and against (!) Andy. He rowed against the tide and then made it flow his way. He will be sorely missed.

You already get all of the content that will be on the BBC World section through news.bbc.co.uk - people outside the UK can't see that (at least in Broadand quality) so this is a way of the BBC providing broadband news clips and have the people watching them cover the cost.

Surely as a 'licence fee payer' you should be pleased with this as ALL the money raised by BBC Worldwide goes back into the BBC in the UK.

As usual, BBC does not consider it owes the BBC taxpayer in the uk the right to see the same thing that BBC broadcasts abroad. It's a shame. Why - as a direct funder of the bbc thru my UK yax and license - can I not see the content things belongs only abroad ? Do they lie? What are they afraid of ?

Losing Sky one is to me like not having BBC1 or ITV1. As far as I am concerned I would pay a premium to keep this channel, but has any one from Virgin asked me. NO THEY HAVE NOT. It's a shame as Virgin offer a great value service with their TV Drive package. I have all the channels + Broadband and my home phone with them. Sadlly I am left with no alternative but to jump ship and will be doing so as soon as I can, but not from choice. Jumping ship will leave a bad taste in my mouth as I believe that Sky will dominate the market soon and will be targeting the Digibox next and we will end up with a poor high cost service in a few years.

The only channel worth watching is Paramount Comedy, if they don't bring Sky One back they will probably lose a lot of customers .

I admire Virgin's stand. Sky probably assumed Virgin would back down, they haven't. I can see that many viewers (me for one) may miss Sky One, but Sky News is no great loss when there is still BBC News 24. A small reduction in monthly subscription might be justified, or the delivery of some additional channels that are currently chargeable above the basic package would also compensate (e.g. TCM).

I have had no complaints about the service I have received from NTL and I am assuming that there will be few **immediate** changes under Virgin. The loss of a few channels will not make me change supplier, especially to one that acts as Sky appear to have done. Sky are the vendor in this situation and Virgin are the customer... but Sky don't seem to have acted with that perspective... Look at it this way - Sky have just lost millions of viewers in one day.
