Most of you visiting ANGA Cable by car will have heard of the so-called Low Emissions” stickers. You need to buy one, but if you plan to use your car to just go the ANGA Cable, park it at the fairgrounds and have no intention of driving around the city, you can avoid having to buy a sticker.
There is access to the trade fair grounds (Messegelände) via Zoobrücke and the motorway A4 from the interchange Köln-Ost. Head for Messeparkplatz Deutz. If you want to drive into town, you will need the sticker.
A couple of years ago a number of German cities, including Cologne, started to require all cars to have a “Low Emissions” sticker in order to enter the city centre (Low Emission Zone, “Umweltzone”). There are three types of stickers, green, yellow and red. At the moment, all the categories have access to the Low Emission Zone.
On the left bank of the Rhine, the Cologne Low Emission Zone runs along the railroad ring and is virtually extended to the north up to the Rhine. On the right bank of the Rhine, parts of Deutz and Mülheim are affected.
You can download a map of the zone in Cologne here – colognelowemissionzone
