Russia’s Vimpelcom has decided to drop its plans to launch a DVB-H service in Moscow by selling its 75% stake in the company Dominant for an undisclosed fee.

No slowdown in tablet sales
The economic downturn has done nothing to slow the appetite for tablet devices or broadcasters to utilise them. Research commissioned by Sky from Mintel found 8% of respondents to have received a tablet over Christmas with an additional 16% of the British population intending to purchase one before the end of the year.

Ziggo adds iPhone and iPod to TV app
Dutch cable operator Ziggo has activated its TV app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, enabling subscribers to watch live streams of the main 10 Dutch TV channels. The functionality is already available for iPads.
Irdeto, Cyfrowy Polsat ink mobile TV deal
The leading Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has signed a cooperation agreement with Irdeto under which the latter will provide conditional access and technical support for a paid mobile DTT service.
