Jim is the VP of Marketing and Sales at UPC DTH S.à r.l. In his role he is responsible for the distribution, programming and strategic development of the Direct-To-Home services of UPC Direct in Hungary and freeSAT in Czech and Slovak Republics. Based in Luxembourg, UPC DTH is part of Liberty Global plc, the largest international cable company. Prior to joining UPC DTH, Jim was the Managing Director for Europe at Sand Cherry Associates, one of the industry’s premier consulting companies. where he founded the European subsidiary.
He came to Europe in 2001 to assume the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for HBO Europe. There he was responsible for the HBO brand in Europe as well as the growth of HBO, Cinemax and other basic channels owned by HBO and its partners.
He also was responsible for the launch of the HBO family of services in new countries throughout Europe. During his time there he also helped launch the successful AXN brand for Sony in Central Europe, as well as expand and establish the Spektrum brand, now owned by Chellomedia.
Jim has over 30 years’ experience in cable operations and marketing, satellite distribution, wireless telephone integration and programme distribution. Exposure to these different pieces of the same industry has allowed Jim to bring a very broad perspective to UPC DTH.
He has a BA in Communications from Hofstra University. Jim served as one of the founding co-chairs of CTAM Europe, the European Cable Marketing Association, and has been named one of the 50 most influential people in the industry by Cable and Satellite Magazine Europe.
