Poland’s Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has officially opened a 30-day consultation period into mobile TV licences.
Employing frequencies in the 470-790MHz bandwidth, the licences will be valid until the end of 2023.
Although the consultation documentation does not specify the launch date of mobile TV services, Anna Strezynska, the president of UKE, has previously said she expects them to make their debut in early 2009.
Interest in the forthcoming tender is strong, with those likely to take part including the POT (Polsat/TVN) consortium, incumbent telco TPSA and the country’s four mobile operators.
