Estonia has taken a major step in its transition from analogue to digital broadcasting.
According to a local press report, the government is offering to waive next year’s licence broadcasting fee of EEK25 million (€1.6 million) payable by TV3 and Kanal 2, the country’s two leading commercial broadcasters, if they start digital transmissions by July 1.
Estonia already has a fully operational DTT service and plans to complete ASO on July 1 next year.
