The standard and high definition versions of History have launched Czech-languaged versions on the Skylink DTH package that serves the Czech Republic and Slovakia from 23.5 degrees East.
“Demand for quality factual programming is particularly strong in Central Europe, and we are very pleased to extend our presence in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and to offer localised services for History and History HD,” said Tom Davidson, managing director, The History Channel UK, the AETN-BSkyB joint venture that operates the channels in Europe. “Both countries have a rich history and viewers there have a keen interest in the genre.”
Jaromir Glisnik, managing director of operator TradeTec added that factual channels were a key attraction of the Skylink platform. “Localisation is critical for our viewers, and for a new channel to succeed, it is necessary to deliver not only excellent programming, but also the best possible picture quality and a localised audio track. History and History HD offer all these elements at the highest possible level.”
Skylink’s HD package already includes Discovery, Eurosport, Playbox and Brava. Further additions are planned.
History HD is also offered through Smart Comp, Mattes and BKS Capital Partners.
