Boxer shed another 9,000 subscribers in the first quarter, but Per Norman, CEO of the terrestrial pay platform, says that subscriber revenue is still increasing.
“The number of subscribers in the Swedish digital TV market is not increasing, but we notice that customers have been buying more from us,” said Norman. Tough competition in the Swedish market has seen Boxer squeezed by satellite, cable and IPTV platforms.
At the end of March, the Teracom-owned platform had 680,000 subscribers, the total including figures from Denmark for the first time.
A package of nine channels launched in Jutland on February 1, with the Danish capital Copenhagen coming on stream on May 1. In November the switch off of Denmark’s analogue services will enable a package of 30 channels to be delivered across the country.
