Poland has finally agreed on the technical specifications for its forthcoming DTT operation.
Satkurier reports that the country has opted for MPEG-4 (H.264/AVC) for video and 5.1(MPEG-2) or AC-3 (Dolby Digital) and E-AC-3 (Dolby Digital Plus) for audio, with details of its decision being passed on to the EC.
If the EC approves the plans, they will be signed off by the Polish minister of infrastructure at the end of June.
Poland plans to launch a DTT platform, initially consisting of a single multiplex, this September.
Satkurier adds that the country’s Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) will launch an information campaign on digital receivers next week.
