Ziggo, the largest cable operator in The Netherlands with 3.2 million connected homes, has unveiled the names of its new VOD services. Although they are only available on the former Casema nets at present, the operator plans to roll them out across its entire network in the coming months.
The new names and services are as follows: – Net Gemist (Just missed) offers programmes from the public and private broadcasters up to ten days after the original airing; Ooit Gemist (Ever missed), with programmes from various channels; TV-theek, movies and TV series from the library; and On Demand, new movies at a cost, available for viewing for a 24 hour period after purchase.
The overall service will be called Ziggo Interactieve Televisie. Two-way television is at present only available on the former Casema network. Cisco is the sole supplier of the interactive cable tuner, but more manufacturers are expected to follow suit.
Ziggo has also announced some additions to its basic digital tier. They include the Dutch evangelical channel Family, as well as the English language version of Al Jazeera and the German commercial broadcaster Sat.1.
