German children’s channel RiC will not become available on DTT in the cities of Dresden and Chemnitz.
Parent company Your Family Entertainment (YFE) handed back the DVB-T licences to SLM, the local media authority of federal state Saxony. The media authority didn’t give any reasons for the move.
According to industry sources, YFE wasn’t able to reach an agreement on the financial conditions with the DVB-T transmitter network operator. No statement has been issued yet by YFE.
SLM allocated the Munich-based media company the permissions for DTT distribution of the ad-funded free-to-air channel in May 2014 and September 2014.
RiC TV can be received unencrypted on Astra (19.2° East), on cable networks, on internet TV platforms Zattoo und Magine TV and as a live-stream on its website. With the DTT licences, the channel would have become available terrestrially for the first time.
