HD+, the HD satellite platform for DTH households in Germany on Astra (19.2° East), wants to give viewers a glimpse at the next generation of high-definition television.
The subsidiary of Astra satellite operator SES wants to launch an Ultra HD (4K) showcase channel by the end of the year.
Through the move, HD+ aims to show viewers the fascination of the new format and raise appetite, the company announced at its corporate event HD+ Forum in Munich.
The service will complement the Ultra HD showcase channel operated by Astra for retailers and exceed the offering of a conventional demo channel, for example through user generated content.
The launch will take place on December 1, 2015 at the latest – in time for the Christmas sales period.
