Almost half of Magyar Telekom’s TV subscribers, or 450,000, now subscribe to its IPTV service.
This is 14% more than a year earlier and, according to the company, a recognition of the interactive possibilities offered by the service.
While most TV viewers still watch films and series on large screens, there is substantial interest in TV GO, Telekom’s multiscreen service.
More than 100,000 have registered and over 50,000 subscribers use TV GO, which is available to Telekom subscribers free of charge, every day.
Deutsche Telekom’s TV competence centre, which is located in Hungary, now plans to introduce a gaming platform, equally available on web surfaces on TV screens. It will allow users to watch games without having to buy expensive consoles.
Telekom saw a 4.2% increase in its TV subscriber total over the last year. The total, which now stands at over 920,000, represents a market share of 27.2%.
