Russia’s leading DTH platform Tricolor TV signed up its 15 millionth subscriber in the third quarter, while its ARPU amounted to R950 (€18.9) a year, or R1,191 for those receiving HD services.
According to the company, it began this month with 15.17 million subscribers, of which 10.66 million were active.
Meanwhile, the R950 ARPU figure was up from R805 a year earlier.
HD subscribers totaled nearly 4.2 million as of the end of Q3, with those active amounting to 3.92 million.
Significantly, over 99% of new customers elect to take HD services.
HD services are also now available not only in small cities but small towns, with HD penetration in the Krasnodar, Moscow and Rostov regions now standing at 9.73%, 8.94% and 4.37% respectively.
A marketing strategy including the launch of a package named Super Max HD has contributed to the take-up of HD services, which as of Q3 were received by 37% of the paid subscriber base.
Tricolor TV introduced Multiroom this summer and it is being chosen by a nearly a third of new customers.
Its future plans include the introduction of an intelligent EPG and mobile apps.
