Romania’s Competition Council has announced that it will investigate the proposed takeover of Ines Group by Cloudsys Telecom.
In a statement, it said it will evaluate the transaction, which is for an undisclosed fee, according to the provisions of the 1996 Competition Law and invite comments from all interested parties by October 17.
Broadband TV News notes that Ines is one of the largest independent telecommunications companies in Bucharest and one of the first ISPs in Romania. Since 1996 it has been providing customers with a range of services including IPTV, internet access and telephony.
Significantly, Ines launched the first IPTV service in Bucharest, and one of the first in Europe, in 2006 employing FTTH.
It currently has a presence in Ilfov and the capital, Bucharest and local reports indicate it is owned by the entrepreneur Silviu Dorinel Sabau.
Meanwhile, Cloudsys Telecom was established in 2001 and is reportedly owned by Enjoy Smart Solutions.
