The Czech broadcaster Prima may launch additional channels in Slovakia after having assessed the performance of Prima Plus.
Quoting FTV Prima’s CEO Marek Singer, Zive reports that the company has been officially active in Slovakia since January this year and initially made Prima Plus available. It is still learning what works and is expecting an audience share of 1% for the channel.
Furthermore, although it is only earning hundreds of euros in Slovakia, there is no reason why Prima could not eventually make millions from its services.
Singer added that while research showed a local version Prima Cool would be the most popular channel in its portfolio should it be launched in Slovakia, Prima Zoom could also perform well.
However, in the case of Prima Love most of the programming it shows already appears on Slovak TV. Singer said that Prima would continue its cooperation with the Slovak broadcaster Joj. He also said that a decision on which other channels to launch in Slovakia would be made at the end of the year.
Significantly, he ruled out introducing its HbbTV services in Slovakia at this stage.
