The Polish public broadcaster TVP plans to launch a paid-for on demand service.
However, reports Wirtualne Media, quoting its VP Maciej Stanecki, it will be low-cost and free for viewers who pay the receiver licence fee.
Its content will include acquired programming, such as foreign series, from external partners with which TVP has distribution agreements.
It will also feature preview content from TVP before it has been aired by the broadcaster.
Stanecki said that TVP will allocate around half of the €190 million loan it obtained from the National Treasury in July for technological changes.
Aside from launching the VOD service, the funding will help it speed up the digitisation of its archive.
