Jaroslav Rezník has been appointed DG of Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS).
According to a statement by the EBU, he took up the new role at the start of August after being elected by the deputies of the National Council of the Slovak Republic in June.
The EBU adds that Rezník began working in radio in 1993 and eventually became DG of Slovak Radio in Bratislava. In 2006, he went to work for the media and audiovisual section of the Ministry of Culture as their chief national advisor before being appointed DG of the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) by the government.
During his tenure at the TASR, he introduced a new organisational structure, increased efficiency and managed the implementation of several new media products including establishing a powerful web-based news platform as well as a respected online television channel.
Rezník is a member of the Slovakian Advertising Standards Council and also a member of the Creative Industry Forum (CIF).
