The number of FTTH lines in Spain exceeded 5.4 million as of the end of April, according to data produced by the regulator CNMC.
Movistar, with 5.1 million, accounted for 58.1% of the total.
In the year to April 30, the number of FTTH lines in the country increased by 1.7 million, while this April alone it grew by 105,885.
By way of comparison, the number of DSL lines fell by 1.2 million in the year to April 30. Looking at the fixed broadband market as a whole, Movistar (-20,900) was the only one of the main players to lose customers in April, while the biggest gains (+21,600) were recorded by Masmovil.
However, Movistar remained the market leader, with a share of 41.92%.
It was followed by Orange (28.66%), Vodafone (23.3%) and Masmovil (1.5%), with other providers claiming the remainder (4.50%).
