Moldova ended the first quarter with 267,230 pay-TV subscribers, or 3,600 fewer than in the corresponding period last year.
Although pay-TV penetration fell from 7.64% to 7.53% over the same period, according to data produced by the regulator ANRCETI, APRU rose from MDL46.81 (€1.97) to MDL50.84.
Sun Communications was the leading provider of pay-TV services in Moldova as of the end of Q1, claiming 96,020 subscribers.
It was followed by Moldtelecom and TV Box, with 59,880 and 17,880 respectively.
Cable was the main method of reception (70% of all connections), with IPTV accounting for the remainder.
ANRCETI notes that the value of Moldova’s electronic communications market in Q1 amounted to MDL1.569 billion, or 3.9% less than a year earlier.
Pay-TV revenues were 5.9% lower at MDL64.5 million, with the greatest losses being experienced in the fixed telephony sector.
